DNC EVENTS and OPPORTUNITIES

There will be a DNC-sponsored “Interfaith Gathering” Sunday August 24, at 1:45 p.
m. in the Wells Fargo Theater in the Convention Center.  It is open to the public and will
include local and national speakers and musicians – yet to be announced.  Catholic,
Protestant, Jewish and Islamic leaders will participate.  Please pass on to your
congregations this opportunity.  More details to come.

There will be “Faith Forums” on Tuesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 28 from 12-2
p.m. at the Convention Center.  They are open to the public and will deal with the big
issues of war, the economy, the environment, and immigration.  Area clergy who have
expertise in these areas are invited to serve on panels connected to these forums.

There will be a “Reflection Room” in the Convention Center with holy books and open
24/7.  Area clergy are invited to be on call for spiritual support and counsel as requested
by delegates and other convention guests. Contact Rev. Terri LaVelle at lavellee@dnc.
org for more information.

There will be a “Day of Service” on Wednesday, August 27, for delegates.  If you have a
service project that delegates might come and work on that day, please call Julie
Rodriguez at the DNC at 720.362.2008.

A directory of houses of worship in the downtown area is being compiled for email and/or
print distribution to the delegates.  To be listed, contact Selena Dunham at
Selena@DenverConvnetion2008.com

Check the DNC website for updates on these and other opportunities for involvement.

There will be an “Open House”  for the public in the Pepsi Center a week or so before
the convention.

FYI, most of the 6,000 delegates are expected to arrive on Saturday, August 23.  15,000
media fold are expected for the convention.  A total of 50,000 guests will be in Denver
that week.

As the delegates have no convention business from 10 am – 4 pm each day, Trinity
Church will have building tours and concerts daily for the many downtown guests.
